Also See: How To Use VidAngel On Chromecast LATEST: The VidAngel App is now available for tvOS and it does not require you to use AirPlay. Enjoy! UPDATE: The VidAngel App is now in the App Store. Once you purchase your movie from www.vidangel.com, then use the App to play the movie to your AppleTV.
STEP 1 – Select an Angel HD Movie
After you have setup your Apple TV , make sure you select an Angel HD title. YouTube titles will not play in HD or on Apple TV.
Note: Angel HD is currently in BETA. If you don't have access yet, just be patient. You will get an invite in the coming weeks.
STEP 2 – Setup Your Filters
Nothing new here. Just make sure you customize your experience just the way you want it.
STEP 3 – Turn On Airplay From Your iPhone or iPad
ON IPHONE: swipe up from the bottom of the phone and then select AirPlay. Then select Apple TV and select Done.
ON IPAD: iPad is easier. Simply begin playing your movie and you will see the Apple TV icon in the bottom right corner of the video. Select the Apple TV icon and then scroll and select Apple TV. It will immediately begin playing your movie.

Unlike on iPhone, on the iPad you can Start Playing Your Movie before turning on AirPlay/Apple TV

After playing the movie, click on the AirPlay/Apple TV icon
STEP 4 – iPhone ONLY. Press Play On Your Movie
ON IPHONE: Now for the easy part. Just click play on the movie and wait for it to load on your TV. You can now control your TV from your iPhone.

I would love to get an invite to beta the HD videos when that becomes available. Thanks
VidAngel HD please
Jared, your user already is upgraded to Angel HD. Thanks!

Hey guys, my mom is using Vid Angel for the first time. She has a MacBook, and Apple TV but not an iPhone and iPad. Do you have instructions for how to watch on AppleTV from a MacBook?
Samuel,
Here's an article I found about it on Apple's Support Page: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201343
I believe you can just Airplay to it, like you would with an iPhone or iPad. Let us know if this works for you?
I hope your mom enjoys!

The easiest way is to turn on airplay in the displays system preference icon in your finder menu bar and choose mirror displays if you get that option. Then open the vidangel.com website and play the movie fullscreen. It will play on both devices. Did it just last night.
When do you anticipate having the app ready for native Apple TV support? I’ve been following you for nearly a year and am really looking forward to giving this a try.
I agree with Jared. This service will be a slam dunk and I will fully join when you guys add a native Apple TV application. I prefer to have my phone/iPad accessible while watching a movie.

Agreed. We’re working on that app, fyi.
I also would like to see a native Apple TV app. Your home page is effectively claiming you have a native Apple TV app by showing the Apple TV logo. Your display of the Apple logo with “iPad” and “iPhone” indicates that you have apps available for those devices. The fact that the display on the iPhone or iPad can also be displayed on the Apple TV by using Airplay is not a feature you offer – it is a feature of the Apple TV and Airplay. It is misleading to also place the Apple TV logo on your home screen until you have an app available for download on the Apple TV itself. I wasted time trying to find such an app and eventually realized I had been misled. I ended up using Netflix instead. But I would like to try your service on my Apple TV.
Very misleading and I would say even false advertising. Disappointing, especially considering the type of service being provided
Dustin, please help us understand how to improve. We have no intention to mislead or make false claims. What specifically are you referring to?
We are working on a tvOS app for the new Apple TV update. Thanks for your interest. As far as the logo goes, I’m not sure our designer understood the distinction between the logos.
I love the idea of this service for me and my family. Unfortunately I have had pretty poor playback quality when trying to use Airplay from my iPhone or iPad to my 2nd Gen Apple TV. The last few times were not even watchable because the stuttering was so bad. I just received my new Apple TV with tvOS, and am anxiously awaiting the native app so I can skip the Airplay process entirely. I’m hoping that will not only solve our stuttering video issues, but will make the entire process much easier. Looking forward to it!

So sorry to hear your movie wasn't working well through our iOS app. We absolutely are working on an AppleTV app. We should have it before Christmas. Which is, scarily, not very far away at all.

I’m really looking forward to this! We bought the newest version of the Apple TV that just came out hoping we could download the application (as this is a new feature for the new apple TVs.)

I am so disappointed. I can’t get this to work. It took me forever to get the movie because it showed that I had watched it, so I had to reload by finding it under popular movies. As I play it, Apple TV keeps booting me out of the site, then I can’t even watch it on my phone. Too many technical difficulties. Can I be refunded my $20?

I haven’t used the service but I would if there was a dedicated Apple TV app.
Brett, you’re in luck. It’s live on the app store: https://www.vidangel.com/support/tv_apple
I have down loaded the Apple TV app. I try to start a movie and by asked me for my apple tv password. What would it do this? Do we have to Apple to watch a movie using the vidangle app?
I just bought Apple TV and downloaded the VidAngle app. Tried to watch directly from the app but could only get it to work via my iPad and AirPlay. The app seemed to have an old CC number which blocked me. I updated the CC number in the App Store. My VidAngle account I set up on my iPad had the right CC number but the app didn’t log me in under the VidAngle account. I will try again with the next movie but am I missing something obvious?

We apologize completely for this issue on the Apple TV. We have found the cause of the glitch and already created an update to the app. Unfortunately, Apple has a freeze on reviewing/releasing apps during the Christmas Holiday, so we'll have to wait a little longer for the proper fix. We do have a quick fix though. You can force close the VidAngel app and open it again. The problem only manifests itself when your account is initially linked, so restarting should solve the problem.
Here is how to close the app:
1. Double click the home screen button it will bring up the task manager.
2. Highlight the VidAngel app and flicking up on the remote.
If that doesn't work, you can just restart the Apple TV.
1. To restart your Apple TV (4th generation), go to Settings > System > Restart.
