The Gray Man: Hit or Miss?

We’ve all been betrayed and let down by the star-studded, jam-packed films full of household names. The Gray Man is not that. Turns out, Netflix struck gold with the right combination of actors and directors. Directors Joe and Anthony Russo are no strangers to box office hits, having directed a few movies you might have heard of: Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame. And now, The Gray Man. With record audience engagement in 92 countries and talk of a sequel already in the works, it’s safe to say the Russo brothers know a thing or two on how to create great action movies.

What it’s about:

When skilled CIA mercenary Court Gentry (Ryan Gosling) accidentally uncovers dark agency secrets, he becomes a primary target and is hunted around the world by psychopathic former colleague Lloyd Hansen (Chris Evans) and international assassins that have less shooting accuracy than an army of stormtroopers.

Here’s what to expect from The Gray Man:

Every millenial’s first love, Ryan Gosling, plays a CIA agent with stealth and a fraction of a moral compass. And he makes for an impeccable babysitter. Of course.

Captain America is now diabolically unhinged and a total sociopath in khakis and penny-loafers. Good boy gone bad. Chris Evans managed to come across as completely unstable, terrifyingly threatening, and low-key hysterical.

Our beloved Duke of Hastings from Bridgerton is kind of the worst. Turns out, playing a puppet master isn’t a charming look for our dear Duke. Immediate dislike.

The new queen of Hollywood, Ana de Armas. You might know her from Knives Out or No Time to Die. She’s absolutely brilliant and captivating. As if that wasn’t enough, she gifted us with this iconic line, “Remove yourself from my personal space.”

It’s a hit. Great writing. Even better casting and acting. Nonstop action. The Russo Brothers’ take on The Bourne Identity is a must-see. Knocked it out of the park.
