Fast-Forward

You shouldn’t fast-forward through the bad parts.

You shouldn’t fast-forward through the bad parts. You can, you might, but you shouldn’t. Did you know it takes our brains 13 milliseconds to process an image? Do you want to know how long it takes for you to grab the remote? Longer.

Our minds process things fast. According to NPR.org, the human brain can process 11 million bits of information every second, but our conscious minds can handle only 40 to 50 bits of information a second. 90% of the information processed by the brain is visual, again, taking only 13 milliseconds for our brains to process an image and about 120 milliseconds before we can take action based on that information.

So, what does this have to do with watching movies or shows? It takes our brains 13 milliseconds to process any information—several dozen milliseconds before we even start to think about grabbing for the remote. That “bad part” you all just saw in the movie that you want to fast-forward through? The entire room already processed it tenfold, even if it’s just a glimpse.

Maybe you already know when the part is coming, so you’re just going to fast-forward yourself. Well, that’s stressful and unnecessary. Unless Liam Neeson is “finding someone” or there’s a will-they-won’t-they situation in a rom-com, movie night should be a no-stress zone.

Stop fast-forwarding. Stop guessing. Stop getting it wrong. Get it right with VidAngel. Don’t just watch your movies, VidAngel them.

  1. I have against Vid Angel is I have Netflix an prime video so I can use vid Angel but most of the movies from those 2 streaming channels aren’t available on it. I’m paying for commercial free on prime an it’s blocking me on vid Angel saying I don’t have it . It’s been a nightmare. I’m fixin to cancel all of it not worth the money if u can’t watch it.

  2. I bought this last week to filter the movies on other apps but I noticed you have your own movies. So, I really need help with this. Is this helpful on my whole television? Thanks

    1. Welcome to the VidAngel family! We’re sorry for any confusion! We link with specific streaming services and to watch with filters, you’ll need to watch on our the VidAngel platform (not directly on the streaming apps).
