Requesting a movie on VidAngel used to work like this: you’d type in a title, hit submit, and then send it out into the void with a little wish. No status. No update. No “hey, we’re on it.” Just you and your pure hope.

Meet the Request Portal
The Request Portal is VidAngel’s new home for tracking exactly what happens to a title after you request it. No more guessing. No more wondering if anyone on the other end actually saw your request. You’ll get more updates on your movie or TV show than you do from some group chats, and that’s a genuinely low bar we’re proud to clear.
Here’s the whole story, beat by beat:
- You request it. Same as always. Search for the movie or show you want filtered and hit request.
- You get the update. Every request now has a real, visible status, so “did that go through?” is no longer a lifestyle.
- You get notified. The second your request moves, so do we. Straight to you.
What’s new: search by actor
While we were in there, we also added search by actor. So if you can’t remember the title of that one movie but you absolutely remember “the guy from that one thing,” you’re covered. Type in the actor’s name, and we’ll help you track down the title you were actually trying to describe to your spouse for ten minutes.
How to actually use it
Using the Request Portal is about as complicated as texting someone back, which is to say: not complicated at all.
- Log in to your VidAngel account and head to the Request Portal.
- Search for your title, by name, or now, by actor if the title’s escaping you.
- Submit your request. That’s it. You don’t need to fill out a novel explaining why you need Outer Banks filtered for Friday movie night.
- Watch the status bar. Your request will move through stages. Think “received,” “in progress,” and “completed” so you always know where things stand.
- Get notified the moment it’s live. No refreshing. No checking back. We’ll come to you.
Why this actually matters
This isn’t a shiny feature we bolted on for a press release. It’s the #1 thing our customers have asked for, and it’s live now. Requesting a title should feel like leaving a note for a friend, not shouting into a canyon. The Request Portal means every request has a real answer, even if that answer is “still working on it.”

Parental Controls are live now too, which means Request Portal and Parental Controls are both here to make sure your streaming actually works the way you want it to. Not the way the algorithm assumes you want it to.
